It was Taco Thursday this week at the Patton house! Steve and Teresa invited the students over for a Mexican Fiesta and what an awesome time it was. After work, Teresa picked up Jackie, baby Katherine, Zoey and Awesomeness (AKA Shannon) and headed for the grocery store. Everyone knows you can’t eat tacos and not have dessert afterwards so when the topic of dessert came up we couldn’t agree on our 3 choices so we just decided to get all three, mango key lime pie, peach pie and snickers ice cream! J Everyone participated in the prep work. Teresa cooked the meat Amiya made the drinks Awesomeness diced tomatoes Jackie shredded the cheese and Zoey took care of the beans while baby Katherine played with measuring spoons! Steve insisted upon showing everyone the correct way of how to “build” your plate when making a taco salad! By the time he was finished it looked more like a towering volcano! As silly as I thought this was the kids followed suit and before you knew it everyone’s plate did indeed look like Steve’s so I guess it wasn’t so silly after all! As we sat around the table we talked, laughed, burped and shared about how our week was going.
God is doing some really amazing things in these young adults lives! Just this week, Tyrone got a job at a carwash in Daytona and will be starting Monday! Amiya too got her first job working at Waffle House and has moved into her very first apartment. After dinner we combed thru some boxes that were meant to go to a donation center but God had other ideas. We found some much needed home items and was able to send Amiya home with some plates, silverware, cups, appliances, bedding…and much more! Praise God! This week Jackie will be receiving a baby bed for Jackie and Zoey and Awesomeness were able to collect some clothing from the boxes for themselves as well and so all in all it was a great great family night! God is so good.
